Depends entirely on the age and type of cbr600

Nothing to be scared of, plenty of people with less experience than you pass their DAS and get CBR's for first bikes

Watch the throttle response especially when the rev's start to pick up and also you might find the brakes a bit sharper / more response than they are on your SV

It does depend what CBR though.

Give it a try you might like it. On private land obviously as your license doesnt cover you to ride it on the road.

I rode a Buell XB12Ss after a couple of months and was absolutely fine on it. Same goes for the BMW GS1200 but then again they're both pretty easy to ride!

Sit on it and see if you can balance it ok at slow speed, if it feels iffy don't bother. If he's not a good mate I'd also not bother. I'm test riding an 848 and CBR600 at the weekend!

It's up to you and your friend, look at it this way...

You aint insured on a bike above 33bhp (even if you got cover on other bikes).
What if you have a slight problem (possibly with the 3 to 4 times extra power) and crash? Its not just on your conscience of dropping your friends bike but what he thinks when seeing his bike on the road and not being insured... Ouch!

Personally I'd wait, as I don't think I could forgive someone smashing my pride and joy just for a go, friends or family...
Then again you will probably ride a bike of greater power in the future...
