Default GSXR forks for my curvy.

hey guys (and gals),
Just acquired these badboys for 130squid at the weekend, they're off off a 1997 gsxr 750.

couple of questions for you lovely org'ers!

a) where they worth it(no oil leaks seals look perfect and no warping, bentness etc..)
b) is it a bad idea to drill out the top yoke so i can fit risers and renthals?

tried searching but couldnt come up with a search string that made sence
(does that even make sense???!!)

thank you!

btw the yellow/gold is clear yellow laquer which is coming straight off!

That's a good price!

I'd paid £257 for a complete set of 1991 forks, but that included the brake calipers, discs and front wheel. But that was an EBAY auction.

The 1991 USD top bearing is the same as the SV, so a straight swap. You'll have to get the secial Twin works top bearing conversion.

Funnily enough I was thinking of doing exactly the same as you regarding the risers and renthals. I was thinking if you get an engineering shop to do it, I can't see any problem doing this?

Otherwise just buy a streetfighter top yoke conversion.

Let me know if you do this, because I'm still waiting for my front end to arrive

hey mav,
just waiting for my top bearing and wheel etc, pretty sure itd be a diy job drilling it out, was worried about whether or not the top yoke would be thick enough to support the weight on the bars when pulling stoppies and endos?
guess we'll all find out in a week when my top yoke snaps on me

let me know how you get on.

Just had a text from the Ebayer, to say my front end will probably be in the post tomorrow

This guy has got me a specially made spindle & spacers to fit the standard SV wheel and speedo drive. Something that you need to think about when fitting your front wheel, if you're fitting the GSXR one, as the SV speedo drive won't fit.

He'd done this to his wifes SV on the same conversion. I'm hoping he's going to send me the drawings

£130 is a good price indeed, as regards drilling the yoke, I'd only do that if where you need to drill is full depth, lots of them are ribbed castings that are only flat on the upper face.
