Default Damn - caught by a speed cam

hardly the crime of the century, 36mph in a 30 zone.

It only flashed once too, they used to flash twice I think.

i thought they flashed twice too. first for your speed and second to judge how fast over you are using the painted lines

I think there are 2 chools of thought on this mate
1. new didigtal cameras only need to flash once to catch you in the act
2. If you set it off so late that it didn't get you in a second flash then there is nothing to measure your speed by.

i know number 2 is definately true of the older type gatsos etc but i have no idea if number 1 is true or an urban myth.

either way 36 in a 30? surely they should just ignore that if it did catch you.

Possible you may be offered a advanced rider course.
Depends on the police force.

I have been flashed quite a few times over the years and never had one fine come through the post, so dont always assume you will get fined.

The only speeding conviction i have had was in 2007 by a damn mobile van with the shutters up on a dual carriageway by where i live, 65 in a 50.
I was in my van as well on a road that used to be 70mph and has gatso's in the other direction.
In the middle of the day in the summer with hardly anyone on there, it runs along side the m6 so no houses or anything.
It was such a risk that they had to put mobile cameras up to catch us dangerous drivers (sarcastic lol) who could only harm a tree at best.

Is that all? Dangerous drivers like you should be flogged - a lash for each mph you're over the limit, doubled if you're on a motorcycle. That'd learn you

J/K If it were true I'd have had a dozen whippings for 62 in a 50

I know some folks would say that speeding by a little in a 30 is worse than speeding by a lot in a 50 or 70. Sometimes they're right I guess, just depends on the road, lots of very fast 30s around...

some 30's should be 20's, some should be 40's. I was done a few years back for doing 36 in a 30 ... at 2am! by some bored coppers. So it's not always as simple as speeding in a 30 is bad.
