Default Dash goes nuts.

Hi guys, i've been reading through all the masses of threads about electrical problems and i've tested for them all and am now just after a bit of confirmation before i head of and buy stuff.

The other day whilst riding along the speedo, tacho, odo and warning lights went a bit nuts. Warning lights were flashing and going off, the speedo and tacho were going up and down and the odo was coming on and off.

The bike itself would still run until it came down to low revs were it died. And did not want to start again off the button.

Now going through all the things i've found on the forum i believe its the reg/rec, as when testing for charge the battery starts at 12v when off, then stays at 12v on idle and drops slightly when at 5k. I cant find any dogy wires or lose connections hence why i rekon its the reg/rec.

Also when testing the reg/rec on the voltmeter, with the positive on the red wire and negative on one of the yellow wires i get a reading of around 10 volts which i know it shouldnt be.

Also with the bike cutting out low down if the reg/rec was gone would it seem likely then that the igntion would not be getting enough juice to keep going hence it dying? Thats what my logic seemed to throw up.

So yea simple answers would be good or if there are any other suggestions you want to throw into the mix that'd be great.

And so, if it is the reg/rec does anyone in derby have one they are willing to part with this evening or tomorrow? (I know that should be in the wanted section really)

Cheers guys
