hi everyone
![]() i have a holiday planned with my girlfriend in august. and it seems that trains and coaches have seriously rose in price!. and i was considering doing the long hall on my sv. 240 miles all M5 i worked out that i could do the one way with one tank ? but were two up so that could take that down abit . then with regular stops. am i being stupid in thinking i can do this ? never done a mad ride like this before . especially not two up ? cheers in advance Pez |

One tank may be pushing it slightly, however I managed Macclesfield to the AR campsite (217 miles) non-stop and on 1 tank on Friday (fully loaded with camping stuff etc in a tankbag, top box and big tailpack). Took a little over 4 and half hours, was motorway for about 140 miles and was boring as hell slip streaming HGV's at 60mph all the way.

Make a day of it, take the A/B roads!
Motorbikes on a motorway is sacrilege! |

just think how confident your missus will be afterward , the longest run ive dun with th missus was 120 each way to the coast for a day trip she was a lot more settled by the time we got back as she dont get on the bike very often

If your misses isnt so confident, it may be too much, so maybe half:half it, come off Mway early, pick some main A roads that are sweeping. you don't become a good pillion / pillion'er by rowing a boat ![]() |

We used to go down to Bideford every year. This is the route we used. Had a stop for fuel/pee/drink at a petrol station near Chipping Sodbury. Lunch in Glastonbury, then on down South.
Make it an adventure, not an endurance IMO. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&so...,0.861053&z=10 |

I would really like to do this but i just keep thinking about the ladyyy.
would never want to put her through something she doesnt 100% want to do . shes coming on the back for the rescue ride coming up ( i have kestrel honda backing me on that one) thats 140 mile. i think after that shell be more confident and then i can think about longer rides out. we're forking out for a train now , £144 for a standard tickes , 2 adults. i remeber when you could do the same trip for £30 each. |
