Hi to all
My first post so please be gentle with me! Is it possible to raise the dropped bars on the SV650S Mine kill me as I am an old git with a back problem. It's a 1999 model. I can't work out if it's possible because of maintaining clearance on the half fairing. Has anyone done it and, if so, how? Thanks Gary |

fitting different handle bars is the only option i am aware of, whether from an unfaired sv650 or an aftermarket item such as helibars.

I'm quite happy to change the bars, the problem is I don't want clip ons and will probably need to change the yoke?

I looked into this when I was thinking of getting the faired one, but ended up getting the unfaired one (I don't know which is "curvey" and which is "pointy" as everyone else here seems to call them!).
Anyway, I think Helibars do clip-on risers: http://www.helibars.com/index.php |

the curvey is before o3, if you notice the fairings are more err curvey, and the later models are more err pointy. |

Here's link to someone who has raised their bars, in the UK. I hope you will find the link helpful.

curvy is pre 2003 design and came in a naked and s versions pointy is 2003-now also in naked and s form as for sticking new bars on it is new top yoke time you could sell your s yoke to cover some of the cost and ebay is your friend here

Mine is 1999 models as yours - quite an easy mod to do - use top yolk off naked version - switchgear all fits
BIGGEST RENTHAL STREETFIGHTER BARS FROM BANDITMANIA FITTED- (massive rise) Banditmania do them with switchgear holes already pre drilled for extra couple of quid - I have put naked top-yolk (25 QUID E BAY) on mine - all cables do fit but need careful re-routing - longer front brakehose fitted (just got a complete front set cheap off off e bay and used the one of the splitter to lower fork hoses in place of master cylinder to splitter) - - I have double bubble screen fitted which has been modded/cut out (really easy) - had to use chewys mirror extentions as all you can see is you elbows without this mod (you could make your own I guess) - the whole shooting match was in the region of £100 - happy to send you a pic of mine if required Alan |
