Im looking at getting a chain soon. Just wondering where I can get chain and sprockets seperate for a half decent price? Im looking at a 110 link 525 chain with 16tooth front sprocket and 43 rear.
Preferably keeping the cost as close to £100 as possibly. Other thing is, is it worth going for X ring over O ring? I'd imagin as long as the only difference is the seals and not the links used then with my Scottoiler a O ring would be fine as the scottoiler oil will get in past the seals and keep it all well oiled. Anyone with the knowledge? |

O ring is fine but get a heavy grade one. I reckon Tsubaki sigma grade. b and c express.

I like DID stuff, heavy duty goldy, oring ones are about £70 with steel sprockets if you have a gander on ebay for a shop. Mine were from manhattan's in sheffield. Or pm leedsmatt he's recently got one.

Problem I seem to be having is that most sites seem to just sell sets and the Sprockets I want are smaller. I want to reduce the gearing a little...
Its only a tiny bit more for X ring it seems... £6 lol. Last edited by ThEGr33k; 09-08-09 at 04:57 PM. |

Find the number and give them a ring and ask for the sprockets in a different size.

Yea I can do that I guess ![]() Dave, the IRIS is doing great tbh. Scottoiler has kept it fine for the 9K miles its done so far. The reason for looking for a new chain is that I am goin to be putting an RSV swing arm on the bike but I have to break the chain to put it thought the swing arm. Im not so sure its a good idea to break a chain then put it back together... What you think? |

Yeah I'd do it, just fit a new soft link in place.
B and C wil do you all the wierd sprocket sizes. Give them a shout.

Got a breaker. Might do that then. Easy enough to do. Just have to talk to my old man about where he got the current chain from, im sure they should have a soft link for the IRIS chain... I hope.
Cheers for the info. I know what to go for when I do need it. Think at this rate this chain should be good for 15K miles + Scottoilers are great! ![]() |
