Default Interesting fuel experiment

Today myself and Bibio filled our tanks to the brim at South Queensferry and rode to Braemar. We then filled up at Braemar and mine (K3) took 7.7 litres to fill. Bibios K8 only took 5.4 litres!!

Moral of the story if you want to save the planet buy a twinspark SV, or perhaps it was trying to keep up the "bibio bullet" that caused it!

That's quite a difference, are you roughly the same weight/size? I take it both bikes are faired/naked?

Probably more to do with riding styles than anything else? You could ride the same route on the same bike twice and get a difference like that with a little effort

Bibio is 2 stone lighter than me, both faired bikes although mine has naked gearing. Still seems like a massive difference. Perhaps we can swap bikes do the same again and split the difference.

i doubt 2 stone would make that much of a difference maybe 1/2 ltr. and the naked gearing on a k3 (which is?) might make another 1/2-1 ltr. for most of the day i was ragging the nutz of my bike (basically having fun). suppose engine state might make a bit of difference but i doubt it as the k3 would be better bedded in. i also use iridium plugs.

i'm currently sitting at 170 miles and no flashy light, and thats giving the bike a lot of thrashing throughout the day. unless i'm out for a 'bimble' i tend to keep the revs at 8-9k unless sitting behind a line of traffic then its 6th gear and low revs, overtaking is kicking it down to 7-8k and thrashing it to red line before i shift up (sometimes hitting the limiter for the indication to shift up).

swapping bikes would be a good indication to rider style, but unless i invest in a k3 seat its a bit difficult.

The rear sprocket is 45 tooth on it, 15 front so 1 up on the rear. The lambda sensor on yours must play a big part in it surely?

Use Unleaded Super or just usual?
And remember, Bibio squeezes a alot more petrol in that tank than we did.

1 up on the rear wont make that much difference mabee 1/4 rev?

doubt the lambda would make that much difference as mine was bust for a wee while and i never noticed much of a difference. thing is peterco (about 16 stone) gets the same mileage as me. but gordonM (about 16 stone) does not and they are identical k8 bikes.
