Default Uber Newbie Track Day

Very simple i have never done a td and am a bit intimadated about tipping up to a normal one and having others hammer past me in a corner at mock 6 and me worring about getting in there way.

So after a discussion with Leeds Matt we have decided to orginse the first uber newbie track day.

So if youve never been on a track, fancy it but dont what the pressure of a normal td this is for you.

This is in the early stages of orginiseation so no questions yet this is just to gleam if there is interest out there, who and where there from ( see whos interested then find a suitable track for everybody distance/ price wise)

Looking start of oct -end of oct sometime at the earliest.

there is only one stipulation
IF YOU HAVE DONE 3 TRACK DAYS OR MORE YOUR NOT INVITED

as this would defeat the point entirely,

I will be asking some orgers i know who race/ do allot of td's to possibly come and help teach us, but they will be by invation only. (bribery provided to get them there)

May i say im doing this as it seems to be the genral concensise that a track day will help you learn about your bike and how to improve your riding, THIS WILL NOT BE A COMPETION OR A RACE

So again this is just to see what interest if any is out there.
List names below and i'll update those who wish to take part.
Dave Preston

P.S if this sounds like a stupid idea let me know that too cheers

It's not a silly idea but I don't know how realistic it is - it sounds like you are talking about getting together enough people to hire out the track yourselves, essentially? That's gotta be 50+ for most tracks?

They have groups on track days so to be honest you should be ok there, if you get people pulling moves you think are too close then you can speak to the instructors/organisers and ask them to have a word.

P.s. on a 'normal' track day they will be very very keen to emphasise it is not a race or competition...

Dave, I'm part of a group that does this all the time, for the UK you will need 80 plus riders for it to get anywhere near sensible price wise, especially if you go to any half decent circuit. You then have to overcome all the liability/insurance issues. A simpler way is to approach an established trackday organizer and ask to "buy" a group of them. You then only need about 30 people to make it viable, you all get to ride together and all the worry and problems are sorted by someone else.

+1, sounds a lot easier and a lot more feasable.

red that was the plan after a quick initial check i agree your own track is far too much hassle and price, but to do the second we still need about 20-30 people so again who is interested in actually doing it

red if ya dont mind could you pm me your digits so i can bombard ya with questions or if your in the northwest meet for a chat

Dave, I felt the same aprehensions as you are feeling before my first TD too. All the worries of being in the way, having warriors annoy me, bining my only form of transport and being to broke to pay to repair it etc, etc.

After having done it i realised that it was all just natural worries that in reality didnt pan out like that at all.
In fact there was only one other Orger there wiht me and he wasn't even in my novice group but in inters. So i went out on track knowing no-one at all and after the intial few laps felt fine and dandy.
I'm not the best track rider at all, but i was surprised at myself how well i kept with the others in novices and by lunchtime i was haing a play with a guy on a duke 749dark, he was better out the cornes but i was braking later going into them. Neither of us buggedeach other and no one came off at all that day.

Dont sweat the need for a group of all noobs mate, if anything its better to have people you dont know about you some of who are better and you can learn from them as you go inot ad out of bends. Its a great day out mate, no winners no loosers...cept those that bin it of course.

Only experienced on-track riding once and it was Silverstone last Monday. I'd recommend it as a newbie track day as the track itself is so wide if anyone is faster they will easily find a way through you! Novice pace is quite slow though, so as long as you're reasonably competent on the road you will be fine on-track and you will find yourself getting quicker and quicker every lap as confidence grows. (Watch out for over confidence though!)

Silverstone is expensive though!

I'll be majorly surprised if the org manages to get enough people to book out an entire group. Particularly if its Novice only allowed.

I can't envisage a problem major issues with just booking into a normal Novice group with any trackday organiser.
