Default My free Helmet.

As some will know, I sent my Arai Maverick to Arai for inspection, following the accident it was damaged in.

I fully expected them to say "Bin it", and had already got a condor in replacement.

Anyway it came back with a finding of "cosmetic damage only/ structually sound", which was a nice surprise, anyway I wasn't going to make it perfect, so just rubbed it down to take off the high points and painted a couple of black bits on the sides to hide the damage mostly, line taped it in blue to match the bike and some chequre tape around the bottom, I think it came out alright, OK not "Free" as I had to spend £3.99 for the bottom tape, but good value none the less.

Cheers Mark.

Could you let me know where you sent it mate? Mine fell off my bike seat yesterday and don't feel right riding without knowing it didn't damage it. Hey at least you've got 2 now!

it goes back via Phoenix Distribution, or pop into Hein Gerickes and they'll help you out.

Cheers Mark.

the inspection is free (they cleaned and replace a vent for me to), but I've used the service three times, twice I had to pay postage and once was free, so you'll have to ask.

Cheers Mark.

I'm not seeing the free in this because you already paid for the helmet however long ago

no fault accident, insurance payout of £269, new helmet purchased at BMF show for £99 to replace = profit of £170

Damaged and thought bin-able maverick (under three years old), but being an Arai, inspected for free, means I have confidence to once again use it, bit of tape (£3.99) and a fully usable helmet for (next to) free, where's the mystery .

End of the day, new helmet and old , plus £166.01

Cheers Mark.

Hein Gericke round here are a waste of space. Irksy off here need to return a faulty helmet for refund. rain ran down between the lid/visor because of a big gap and they would not accept it. unless he bought a new helmet first and that the manufacturers agent then accepted the defect.

He told Raceleathers about the poor service he had had from Hein Gericke and they agreed to have a word with the rep when he called. The rep accepted Raceleathers word without seeing the lid and authorised them to issue a refund. Brilliant customer service from Raceleathers even if the lid was bought from Hein Gericke.

Any Arai dealer is able to send it to Phoenix for you (whether they will or not is another matter). It's quite usual for the dealer to request you pay for the postage (as we have to pay for it to go back to Phoenix), that should be about a tenner. If the customer bought the lid from me (or is a regular) I'll tend to cover the postage cost, but I wouldn't be doing that if they dropped the lid monthly

You won't need the box, as dealers almost always have spare boxes as well as appropriate packaging. Depending on the time of year, it takes about a week or so to get it back.

HTH
Jo

Edit - P.s. I like the new colour scheme Mark
