I'm removing the scottoiler on my sv650s k1. It is connected to a t-junction which is in the middle of a thin pipe running from what I believe to be the carburretor underneath the fuel tank to ... (I don't know where, somewhere under the rider seat). I'm guessing it's a breather pipe(?). I'm also guessing I just need to block off the t at the outlet from where I've removed the pipe to the scottoiler. Is this correct? I'm no mechanic but this seems logical. However I've seen some bits of advice, albeit relating to other bikes, talking about looping the other end of the pipe back to the t-junction and other advice saying that t-junction should connect to somewhere else on the engine. So I'm a bit unsure.

Just unplug the thin line that runs to the scottoiler and then block the hole on the T piece.
Out of intrest though - why are you removing it? They really are a cracking bit of kit.

Thanks, I'll do that.
I think it may be knackered: the rubber connector has split and the back wheel gets covered within a couple of hundred miles. It's located under the rider's seat behind the plastic cover so it's a bugger to get at anyway. It was on the bike when I bought it. I'm a bit of a clean-freak and I degrease the rear sprocket every couple of hundred miles or so when I clean the bike. So I always get it on a paddock stand and manually lube the chain afterwards. I notice that alot of people on this site, like yourself, are big fans but I have to say it doesn't float my boat. |
