Default Engine ratlles

Hi All,

Can anyone help me?

Is a rattly cam / primary chain normal on a 1999 SV 650 X with 14ish K miles?

SVs are known for their noisey Cam chains. It all depends on what sort of rattle. Does the rattle get louder as you increase revs? Does it completely disappear when you come off the throttle whilst riding?

Thanks for the reply Echo.

The noise could well be camchain although a mechanic said that it isn't unknown for primary chains to make similar noises.

Is it possible to adjust this out or do "they all do that sir".

Thanks for the info husky

I guess it's nothing to worry about, just put up with it. The next job is the front brakes as the right hand calliper is lazy and getting progressively worse, pity Bandit 12 callipers don't fit, sliding callipers are rubbish.

Thanks again

Lol

Trust me the primary chain on SV never makes any noise at all

It's almost certainly the camchain. If i think about it, long camchain, OHC it makes sense.

Thanks all, I'm reassured!
