Hi all, its been a few years since i was last on here but i might be coming back to the fold.
My last bike was a 99 sv 650 which for some reason i never got to grips with, nothing in particular caused a problem but something just didnt feel right with the bike, due to a long term illness the bike had to go but now im feeling a lot better and have started looking for another bike. I was looking at a 650 bandit but its the weight of them that puts me off (im only little lol) so i started looking at a SV, round the 06/07 plate but cant seem to get the feeling of the 99 model out my head, i know its a totally different bike with fuel inj and things have improved massively since the 1 i had. So should i give a SV a second chance or start looking for something different???? ![]() |

Yes, or a Ducati 1198s which are also quite light, but also £16k. Doesn't stop me wanting one though.

I've just come back to a SV. I had a 99 S version before and as much as I liked it, I was never comfortable on it? I'm tall and the riding position gave me wrist ache. So this time I've gone for the naked version and ist really working out well for me.

I had a 650 bandit for a little while; whilst a bit heavy to push around, it was actualy very very manoverable when on the bike riding. The engine is not as strong as an SV engine below 5000 rpm, but is usefull above this and a right giggle above 8500 rpm to the rediline
![]() ![]() A later SV might quite you better, although there isnt much between them. Are you after a naked or faired? Can you remember what sort of problems you had with the SV before? Perhaps there is something that could be done to make you feel more comfortable, even as simple as a differant set of tyres |

Don't get a bike because you feel you ought to want it, keep looking and sitting on bikes at a bike superstore type place and wait until you find one that really gives you the wants. There are quite a few light bikes around, ER6F? Buying because of certain features and specs is ok, but you've got to have the wants. Does that make sense?

Ooo, another quesntion - what do you want a bike for? Playing? Commuting? Winding up the neighbours at 5am on a sunny sunday morning?
Answer this honestly and then some better suited bikes could be considered |
