Default TL1000 S clip on question GSXR front end

Right I'm half way through putting my GSXR front end on my bike. So far so good, the only prolem I've had is getting the ****ing bolts out that hold the ignition barrel in place.

I've just put the TL1000 clip ons on and put the leavers and switch gear on them. I didn't realise but they are slightly shorter than the SV ones. So, question is can the grip overhand slightly (I wouldn't have thought so) or would it be best to file off the plastic lugs that position into the clips ons and move the electrics up the handle bar further? There would be room.

I can't see there'll be that much presure on the electric switchgear to make it spin without the plastic locator lug...will there? What have others done??

Thanks Nick

Dunno, but when I do my swap I'm going to indent the bar with a dot punch for the plastic lug to sit in.

Should be easy peasy

Yeah i had the same problem with those bloody bolts on the ignition barrel!!! I ended filing the lugs off the switchgear and found that the grips still overhang a bit, i just spaced the barends out a bit and its been fine

I've done as you suggested. Had to file a bit off the clutch leaver and drill a new whole in the right clip on. Just a word of warning for anyone else who has the same problem, the clip ons are VERY soft and you don't need to drill at them for long, otherwise you'll be straight through the bar!

Thanks for the posts

Mine are spot on now, no overhang at all, well I hope not still need to put them on properly tomorrow.

Seeing your post on here about the front end swap was one of the reasons I decided to do it, I thought it looked ace. So, it's your fault I spent all this money .

I just got a stanley knife and cut the lug off the inside of the switch, haven't had any problems with the switchgear spinning round.
The bolts on the ignition barrel are put in with threadlock, get a breaker bar on them and they soon come undone.
