Default Tooth trouble...

Basically I have a poorly tooth (just one, rest of my teeth are shipshape ).

It was really poorly about a year ago, throbbing , causing me agonizing pain, lots of ibuprofen from the doc. Went to an emergency dentist down in Aberystwyth and to cut a long story short, she was nothing short of USELESS . I was nervous as hell and as a result the 6 shots of local anaesthetic in my gum didn't take any effect, "yes I CAN feel you trying to rip my tooth out thanks ". She gave me some temazepam to calm me an hour before my next appointment, didn't work a jot. I'd had enough by this point, told her I wanted to be put under for the pulling . 3 months later I was told that wasn't a viable excuse for a hospital appointment (why don't they like giving happy gas no more! Wasn't a problem when I was a kid!).

So I didn't go back. Tooth stopped giving me pain , I considered it dead and have put off going to the dentist since .

Today at work I notice a slight swelling on the side of this molar, have a look in the mirror and holy crap half of my tooth is wobbly!
First thought: Wooo! I'll get some pocket money this week!
Second thought: Nooooo it's gonna fall out when I next eat and then I'll have an open sore and then it'll infect and then I'll end up with no teeth living out my life as an old spinster with 15 cats...Ok slight exaggeration...but you get the gist.

Sooo the point of this thread. I need to work tomorrow and no dentist opens on Sunday: if it falls out between now and Monday should I go to the hospital or just sit it out and hope its not infected by then? I considered ragging it out myself but a) I'm probably underestimating how much of a pussy I am and b) it'll get infected quicker that way.

Stupid tooth.

Dont know but when I was younger I had 6 teeth removed and as such I absolutely hate dentists and anything dentistry!!! If it were me I would just leave it. But that cos I am a pussy.

Dentists are glorified torturists.

I admit the woman I had in Aber didn't seem at all bothered by my nervousness, probably sees it all the time and as a result she didn't reassure me at all, I actually felt guilty and stupid for being so nervous but you can't control the way your body reacts to such things! It certainly wasn't my fault the anaesthetic didn't kick in till 3 hours after she'd administered it!

Get some clove oil, honestly, it saved my life, I was in agony with something similar but it's apparently a natural antiseptic, and it deadens pain, and it really really works.

+1 for clove oil. I had an impacted wisdom tooth and couldnt get to dentist for 3 days, it saved my life. smells nasty but couldnt believe how quickly it kicked in, complete pain free.

be careful with the clove oil, as it can have adverse effect on your gnashers as well as numb pain temporarily. It also is absolutely minging and is likely to make you gip, its disgusting!!
Get yoursen a proper dentist. I've had two filling since I was a kid and I can't remember having them done....which is why I have been with my dentist for as long as I have had teeth, good ones don't inflict pain.

Salt

Solution of salt and warm water. No need to make up a full glass and don't skimp on the salt either lol.

Cheers
Ben
