Default Coolant expansion bottle temporary bodge

Have got a new expansion bottle on the way to replace the one I've got which should arrive in a day or two, however, I'm going to need to be mobile tomorrow and can't see anything other than the bike at the moment. Had to return the CB1000F I borrowed from a friend yesterday so no bike atm (it was boring anyway, but comfy ).

The current expansion bottle had the bottom port snap off, so that the tube from the cooling system can't be attached to it. As far as I can tell, the top tube runs around the frame and exits the bike as an overflow precaution.

Would there be any harm in attaching the bottle so that the exit port is the inlet port, having taped up the filler cap with duct tape so it doesn't go awol? Was thinking of strapping it to the side of the frame so it won't dump water near the carbs/engine, and just spill it down the side of the bike if it gets very full.

From what I understand (possibly wrong), if I fill the cooling system and put a small amount in the expansion chamber I should be good (it's only being ridden about 30 miles). Only problem is if it all overflows due to high temp/pressure I'll get a wet leg

Thoughts?

Just take whole thing off until you get replacement. Just run hose from radiator in little water bottle that you can attach anywhere.
Basically take water bottle and cut hole in cap for radiator hose and attach it to bike somewhere. Ignore outlet hose, you don't need it. You would need to overheat bike to overflow it.

In the end I went with my bodge-job. It's currently cable-tied to the outside of the fairing so I can rip it off easily when the replacement comes. I now have a running bike
