Default Hand Guards

Winter is approaching, things are getting colder. I'm looking to get some hand guards on the SV along with some heated grips that i've got.

I know Badger has some fitted to his, but which ones are people using?

Am I right in thinking the DL and KTM ones fit? How easy do they actually fit, is there much modding to be done?

Thanks in advance

SVS I take it ??

I've got heated grips on mine (Oxford), and for all the bad press they get, I've found them great (so far) .....

Hand guards .... not sure how they'd work on an S ....

Yeah i've had the Oxford ones before, got some Daytona ones ready to fit.

The hand guards can be fitted to the SVS but unsure which exact ones fit best etc.

I got the DL650 ones direct from Robinsons Foundry. They were a piece of to fit, however Darren was right in that they will not prevent your hands (well fingers actually) from getting cold.

Your fingers get cold because they are actually underneath the handlebar and I found last winter, that even with handguards and heated grips, my fingers still got cold/numb after an hour of M-way riding.

Heated grips and handguards will help, but they wont completely stop you getting cold.

Another plus point of the handguards is they take the brunt of damage if you have an off or knock mirrors when filtering.

Handlebar muffs for warmth

hand gaurds for protection.

Some time, I'll make up an alloy sort of bar to be a handgaurd, and have the muffs over the top.

I've hand guards and oxford heated grips and it's a great combination so far.

The guards do keep the wind chill off, but I've got hands the size of a child, so maybe that's the difference - don't bother if you've hands the size of a dinner plate.

I tend to get cold hands pretty easy. I've never tried heated grips, but have used an electric heated vest and it works really well for keeping hands and feet warm (warm body core and you keep a warm blood supply going to your extremeties).
