Default Typical!

Went to look at a possible winter hack today, i won it on ebay but obviously wanted to check it over before the 90 mile ride home.

Anyways, we get there amidst the heaviest rain known to Ampz to a coffee. Always a bonus. We go out and the guy has trouble starting it. Granted, its kick-start only and his methods weren't great but with a bit of effort it eventually fired. Now i considered offering to av a go at starting it but i knew id end up looking a berk and doing a far worse job than the owner.

engine running etc check the front light (for ummmm, cosmetic purposes, it wouldnt light the crack in my butt) make sure the rear and brake light worked well (those two are essential)...sorted! stood and thought long and hard for ten minutes trying to remember hand signals for left and right (no indies) DUHHhhhhhhhh...

i jump on the bike and bounce and the front felt too 'squidgy'....give it a another bounce and check for fork leakage and noticed the front tyre is flat! bike hadnt been ridden since july which explained all of the above. Being a nice guy he sez he'll nip to the garage and put some air in it so i could av a go, and i cheekily said 'whilst your there...make sure its full of petrol!'

20 mins later hes back, tyre pumped up! Him and the missus check through the paperwork whilst i go outside to have some 'sneaky feeble attempt at starting it whilst no-one was looking' type action. Upon jumping aboard the new toy i hear the sploshing sound of petrol in the tank and think 'wait im bloody deaf....whys that so loud!?!? look down and discover the petrol cap missing (full tank of petrol though ) We all go on a hunt for black plastic cap with no joy

So, after almost 6 hours and a lot of faffing around im still not able to ride it back due to the large opening of flamable liquid under my chin and close to my nads.

Eventually the guy agrees to meet me halfway next week which is a bonus, hes gonna order a new cap from evilbay, ride it halfway with a mate in a car to take him back. So off home i go, no new toy and £50 poorer from the cost of petrol

Summit tells me it wasnt s'posed to be...

Thanks to the owner tho, genuine guy that was doing his best to stay calm and sort things out

Due to the size of the dark cloud following me around right now i'd rather not say in case it turns itself into a fireball when im on it and throws itself under a bus.

grin machine!

you want to be glad he is meeting you half way.

there is a certain point in the rev range where your eyeballs vibrate so much you cant read roadsigns. 90 miles on one of them is an experience..
