Default Best time to take bike or car for work

OK folks, just wondering what your thoughts are...

Before I did my own work on vehicles, I'd always find it a bind to get my vehicle to a decent garage and get to work and pick it up, as garages only seem to open when I'm at work.

When would suit you best?

When they can fit it in.

I use a little local garage close to where I work, they open at 8am and I dont start work till 8:30am. So I drop my bike off with them at 8am, leave it with them all day and collect it on the way home. They dont shut till 6pm so I dont have to arrange to leave early or anything like that.

Its one of the main reasons I use that garage TBH.

i'm, sure there would be Boot. The place i sometimes use opens at 8 for this exact reason. I can drop my bike to him at 8 - 8.30ish and still have time to get a bus to work from there.
he's a great guy and will try and get it done by lunchtime if he can so i can pick it up at lunch and not have the faff of getting there after work when he's also at his busiest. Works out well for everyone.

My local garage that I had been to for years would drop me off to work and pick me up again, about a 6 mile round trip so they can have the bike for the day. This lets them fit the bike in when they need it rather than having to fit round my schedule. I wouldn't even think of going anywhere else with service like that! Unfortunately I have now moved away from there.

I leave for work at 7:30 and get back home just before 6. I'd like to drop the bike/car off before work then pick it up on the way home. Very few garages do that, but my normal mechanic will pick it up from my work, leave his car, drive it back to the garage, poke it with a sharp pointy thing, and return it before 5. However, he doesn't work on bikes, so that is much more of a pain.

When I've needed a local bike garage I've just locked it up (fort knox stylee) out side the premises and posted the keys through the letterbox or give spares to the wrench the day before if possible. Slightly less secure and takes a bit of trust but convenient.
