Default Overtightened fixings - dealer?

....dealers over tightening bolts and nuts.

Had some work done by a local dealer a few weeks back....job was done fine...but yesterday went to do some bikey stuff to find that all bolts they had touched were so over tighten it was a miracle I only shreaded one bolt.

Are they being over careful or are they hoping you shread a bolt head and go to them to sort?

Just makes me mad...I've had this from a couple of other places too.

Grrrrrrrrrr

They should be doing them up to the correct Torque settings , unfortunately these guys are far too busy to dig out the specs of each bike so they tighten them to their best "guesstimation" of the right Torque . Overtightening is needless and causes more damage than good in the long run .

Busy? I wouldn't be rushing anything if I had the cheek to charge £50+/hour!

I have the same issue.

Get a cheap impact driver on ebay, you whack the end with a driver and it spins.

Or

Just make sure the screw driver (one with spanner shape on the handle) is the best fit (try a few), lock a pair of molegrips round the handle of the driver, put all my weight on the driver then spin lol.

You should look in the workshop near me mate , those guys are flying , bikes in and out in mere minutes . I had something done once and was expecting a huge hourly rate , apparently it was 15 minutes work and I didn`t get charged much . Another dealer charged excessively for something similar and I NEVER went back there .

You don`t even have to go to eBay , good old Halfords do an impact driver for £14 , I got mine for £11 because it had rust on it ...... really bright Orange rust ............... that miraculously disappeared with a quick wipe from my cuff on the way home

Impact driver for Xmas I think...seems to be another essential bit of kit.

Any sugestions for those that all those bolts already mesased up and will not take an Impact Driver to fix??
