Default F'ed over by a client.

Hi Orgers,

Just a little rant on the way

Heres goes,
Few will know im a graphic/web designer,
Basicly a week back i was informed that a past client of mine knew somone in need of a website and logo.

so as you do you get the phone number and you give them a ring.

Ringy ringy and 10 minutes later weve aqgreed ill send a quote across to her email address and she can have a look over it and get back to me.

two hours later i get a call, " I'd like to accept your quote " , "Great, how would you like to pay the deposit? Paypal ?" , "yes, this could take 24 hours would that be okay?", "Ofcourse".

so i go away and open up paypal, and just as i go to send it i remember, paypal charge commission!

so i email her as its a tad late in the night now just explaining the situation and ask if she would do a bank tranfere instead.#

She comes back with one sentence "Would a cheque be okay"

i say yes and tell her who to write it to, i also ask if she would like me to come and pick it up.

*i sleep*

*i wake up*

"oooh, an email"

----
"We need to hold off for a couple of weeks."
Oh Jesus mary and joseph!

i asked her why this was and she then came back to me saying
"just until we have a more definate idea on what we need from our website."

now to me, when you accept a quote , your ready to rumble? i may be wrong.

but to go from deposit in hand within 24 hours, to lets do nothing and no money for weeks isnt what id expect from someone whom accepts a quote.

I may be complately wrong or not understand whats goin on but when i have £50 to my name and still three weeks left till payday, that deposit would have meant a meal in ma big belly...

Just makes me angry.

Rant over , Tar.

We got ****ed over by some **** who sent us the wrong drawing to quote a survey for, totally denied it and was incredibly condescending on the phone when it transpired, we agree to carry out the extra work for 50% more, essentially ignoring several hundred pounds worth of disbursements, then when invoicing comes round it turns out he's paid up £800 short

Punchline is, he works for our company, and management are too spineless to sort it out, gonna have a few choice words for the **** come the next meeting...

Yeah, I suspect a severe public shaming would make for interesting post-X-mas party rumours

He's an absolute ****** to deal with as well, my boss ended up telling him to F*** OFF on the phone, that was funny, then him demanding a written apology and getting told to F*** OFF again - spineless management does have some advantages I suppose

At the time of reading this im bloody fuming over howdens joinery, sent me q quote out over xmas for £5800 for a kitchen which i have now fitted, got invoice for £6028, even though i have sent un-needed things back and they were short of parts for days which prolonged the job by 2 days.
Spoke to them today and they said the original quote was wrong and they dont make mistakes on pricing.
Fooking wonkers...
My rant over.
Anyway, back to job tomorrow and im gonna add up price of everything i have there and see what it comes to, lets see them wriggle out of this one.

Pez, sorry about your situation, but it happens to me a lot with customers, give you the nod on jobs then when your due to start they change their minds.

Tell howdens to come back and pick it up.

I had this a while ago, told them to come and collect it while I ripped it back out..

They "adjusted" their invoice by knocking the amount off my next invoice.

As for perrys problem, get used to it mate, its part of working for yourself.

Now if a contract had been signed, thats a different story.

When they come back in a few weeks time, point out that the cost has gone up slightly and if they still want you to do it, charge them more
