Default Time to switch gas & electric supplier?

On my way back from Scouseland on Friday I was listening to the guy from 'Money saving expert' website on the radio.

He was saying that it's a good time to switch gas & electric. I just did a comparisson on 2 sites and I'll save £189 on my current surplier. Plus I'll get £30 cashback for switching, so £210 saved.

Now he did say that prices could drop even more, but they could also stay the same.

If you haven't compared your current gas & electric for a while, it might be a good time to check it.

I thought I was on a good deal, but obviously I wasn't

I'm due to do this soon, as we've just moved in to our new house, and want the cheapest tariff.

I just had a 450 quid bill from southern electric, they've cocked up a huge amount of times, in fact on every bill I've had. So I'm off. Looks like British gas are best for me at the moment

Time to switch surpliers then chap

But BG is the cheapest major surplier on the comparrison. But you're probably on a different tariff, as the one I've signed up to is new, and probably for new customers.

If it's a tied in deal, it'll be for 12months I think, so in 12 months time I can look around for another deal. But I'm saving, so that's ok.

Watchdog pointed out there is faff all between the lot of them.
I've been with BG for ages, went to their website and found I could save 6% on both gas and leccy just by ticking a box, then some more by going online billing.
Shame they don't exactly shout about their cheaper tarrifs.

Its not in their business model to give money away, in fact quite the opposite
