Default Problems fitting Blueflame exhaust

Just wondering if anyone has had problems fitting an aftermarket exhaust to a K8 SV650S?

I ordered a twin port exhaust from Blueflame at the NEC show. I've had two goes at fitting it both unsuccessful due to the design of the suppled link pipes.

The first link pipe was supplied incorrectly (wrong model year) however the new one is not a lot better. The problem is that the exhaust when fitted does not follow the line of the bike. It angles away from the bike at about 10 degrees. I've looked at the stock exhaust and it has an bend of about 32 degrees - the Blueflame link pipe has a bend of 22 degrees. Blueflame will look at the problem after the holiday break but I'm not convinced they are that interested.

I've attached some photos which show the problem. Blueflame seem to be the only company that have 3 specific link pipes. I can't see anything that would make my SV any different to a K7 or earlier except for the oxygen sensor. Is this a know problem with K8 models or is it Blueflame. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome particularly if you have fitted an exhaust to a K8/K9.
Thanks

Part of me thinks its looks ok but part of me doesnt, have you tried twisting the link pipe round? so from the back try twisting it clock wise? thats the only thing i can think of at the moment

I had the same problem with my k5
I made my own link pipe to get it just where I wanted it.
Blue flame have known about this for years and have still not done anything about it. They don't listen to there customer feed back and I think their customer care is a bit poor compared to the price of there products

+1...most link pipes are same, twist it clockwise untill it lines up correct

+1 more, clean pipe/silencer internal and external surfaces well, apply a little copper grease and this should allow you to rotate the link pipe which "will" give you the desired position? also make sure the silencer strap is a loose fit, have fun.

My scorpian doesnt sit as good as id like it, my link pipe, no matter how much i rotated it would bring it in.
Because its effectively a dogleg (lazy 's' shape almost) jigged out a certain amount you cant detract from how much the two centre lines are apart.
Sorry if this sounds confusing but i know what i mean
My can sits almost paralell with the frame except i wish it was closer, only a tighter jigged pipe would achieve this.

I see you're problem, you have still got the baffles in

Just as the others said, twist, and just play about with it until its how you like.

I kinda agree with the others saying try twisting it it more. But I would also say keep on at Blueflame - they do have some good people that are very willing to help (I think I have dealt with one called Nigel?) I'm sure you paid a lot for it & you shouldn't make do until you are happy.

Oh & it's Blueflame so keep the receipt incase you need to claim on the warranty

Thanks for the replies.

I have tried every which way to rotate the link pipe - I think the only way you could get it to align correctly would be to move it higher than the rear peg. This is because as you rotate the pipe it eventually hits the bottom of the peg but the rear of the exhaust does start to look right.

I think the comment regarding Blueflame knowing about the problem is probably right. The chap I spoke seemed keen to do something but he didn't fill me with confidence. He said they would not sell anything that wasn't fitting correctly. I told him the pipe needs a further 10 degrees of bend and he gave me the impression they might make what I've asked for. He said it was a problem when a new model year comes out because they haven't got the facilities to buy a bike just to check the fittings were correct.

I'm quite prepared to try and get this pipe bent or cut and welded at the right angle and then let them fabricate a new one - or should I send it back and get a Beowulf or similar. Am I likely to get the same problem with other makes of exhaust with this K8 SV?

By the way you couldn't live with it the way it fits at the moment - it sticks out by more than 2 inches compared to the stock exhaust. The baffles are all still in place as I've not run the engine with it on yet.

Cheers - Steve

Hi again, sorry to hear you are still having problems, if it indicates as others have noted that Blueflame have been aware "that there is a problem" and you are not confident of getting a satisfactory fit you will never be happy?
I would suggest that you contact them again and advise that the unit is not fit for purpose and return it to them IF there is nothing they can do about it AT THEIR COST.
I fitted a titanium FUEL to my new 95 reg sport with no problem whatsoever took about 30 minutes, sawing the new/old one off took the longest.
