Do You know Someone famous? Charity

Hi all

every year I play my guitar and sing (drunkenly)(if that’s a word) at the Army vs. Navy Rugby at Twickenham. All money I collect I donate to charity. For a donation people get to sign the guitar and my shirt! You would not believe where the Wrens Write!!
As we all have been touched by someone living or having lived with cancer within our life times I have decided to donate to the Rowans Hospice this year.

The Rowans Hospice exists to enhance the quality of life for those suffering from a life-limiting illness. It supports patients and carers in the belief that each person is entitled to dignity and choice with the best provision of care. The reason why I am doing this is that within the past 2 years I have lost people to Cancer who have been very close.
My best friend lost his Dad to Cancer in December 2008. He was only 26. He left behind a family of 3 children and a loving wife. His family struggled to come to terms with it and in January 2009 his Mum was diagnosed with the same pancreas cancer and passed that month.

Another friend of mine Baz Coonan also was diagnosed last year with a small lump in his back. Upon operating to remove this his entire body was found to be infected with cancer. He died in Spain were he lived with his partner.

This is not being told for sympathy. The reason for this is that on May 7th this year I will be holding a charity night Auction / raffle at the Centurion Pub in Crookhorn support for any body who has lost someone to cancer over their life time. My aim is to want to be able to donate more than the usual £100 i raise and give them something substantial. My target is £1000.

So I suppose your wondering what the Do you know someone famous line is for?????

Well. The aim is to hold a auction and auction of signed memorabilia. So I thought if there is anyone on here that knows someone famous that may be willing to donate or sign an item (which if need be I could supply) then the help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone owns a business and wants to donate a prize that would also be very welcome. I am not after any money donations from people purely items to auction / raffle off to generate the cash.


If any one could help out or knows anyone that may be able to help please don’t hesitate to send me a PM and I can forward on more details.

I will be contacting the local paper Portsmouth EVENING NEWS and advertising this auction as widespread as we can achieve. We will also try to our best publicize the donation to as many people for your warm hearted contribution.
All donations will be photographed and a thank you letter with how much the item raised sent back to the person who donated. If a company donates something we can guarantee is that you will be advertised with the item supplied.

Any help would be gladly appreciated. You would really be supporting
a worthy cause

Please feel free also to attend this event if you like. The more the merrier.

It looks unlikely that I will be available on the 7th. If I can make it I will scoot along for sure.

My aim is to raise a £1000. I have never raised this amount for charity ever so will consider it as my first sort of big charity achievement.#
