Also i started the bike recently, its kept under oxford cover with a timed heater coming on during day and night but after idling for while i checked temp and it rear 101 i stopped it and re tried it next day and no problem went to 86 and dropped back down to normal temp and has done so few times since no problem, could it have just benn that thermostat was stuck, any ideas greatly appreciated, cheers guys.....come on the good weather to get bike days going again!!! |

Hmm...well if its at 101 then thats ok, fan kicks in at 103 normaly. You may have had a bit of a sticking something, or perhaps a bit of an air lock or whatever. Check the water level / get the water level checked and topped up as nesecary (spelling, i know)
A 4000 mile service shouldnt be anything more than oil and oil filter change; oil is about £10 a litre I think, oil filter shouldnt be more than £10. Chuck in £50 labour, you should be maybe looking at about £100? I'm not reaalllyy sure, but much more than £150 (depending on what else the garage do) would be far too much I think. Give the bike a good look over yourself aswell, and spot out anything that might need some attention while its in the service. Something like chain tension, or an adjustment of the clutch worm drive (I dont know if it would need adjusting so early, just thinking about intial wear and tear), tyre pressures etc. Those things can technically be adjusted while the oil is draining (I tend to get that stuff done while I drain my oil) And yea...roll on the good (dry at least!) weather ![]() |

thanks for that, i read in manual that at 4k/2yr service they should change front & rear brake fluid and renew coolant also.
Will check water level also, thanks again. |
