OK, I have just shattered yet another filling on the way home. I thought things were going too well in my mouth.
Well, I cut my tongue on a sharp bit. tried to eat some dinner and cut myself again. So a good look in the mirror. There is a sharp bit doing all the damage stuck up. so a bit of emery cloth. doesn't dent it. Out with the little snips to crop it off. No chance of cutting through. Strange, I thought filling was quite brittle. (Well mine are) suddenly what ever it is comes away. It is a bit of steel wire about 1/16" of an inch in diameter. Question, is my dentist a structural engineer and is using rebar to give his work extra strength. I know his foundations are deep. I am just glad he doesn't pile my roots before he files them

Rebar actually isnt that strong, cuts easy.
I use it in concrete floors etc. HTH |

I think this must be surgical steel, mild steel would have rusted away in my gob with all the ale that keeps it moist (Good woody word that)
then again maybe that's why the erection collapsed. the structural support rusted away

Dental posts are usually titanium as its less likely to cause infection of the bone
