Just been reading the post about accountants and out of curiosity wondered what letters people are allowed to use after their name
as in:- CPC[Int],MIRTE,ONC[Mech],CG[Haz]and MIFF being some of mine that I have never used but all relevant to the job I used to do----

After my degree I made sure that I used my B.Sc. Hons, but these days if I get a letter to JayneFlakes B.Sc. Hons, I know it is from my Mum! Both of my siblings have a degree too, although my sister has other stuff and a PGCE too, but I don't think any of us use our letters for anything other than a fully formal letter.

I only really use mine on my CV and on web forms where the computer fills them in automatically for me (Still don't know why it does that though). Mind you I did write to the MOD a couple of years ago to make an official thank you to a Naval Officer, who was going to come and talk to my Human Rights classes I was running, I used all of my letters then because I was writing to high ranking important people.

Also I have just checked and it is on my Driving license too, I am such a nerd! I would not use any of the others though.

I imagine that we have quite a few B.Eng, M.Sc., B.A. and ever a few PhDs on here though, you lot do strike me as a bright bunch and I so hate talking to the proles!

I don't have any as of yet.

One that I would like is ICAEW just because it looks so exec. However, this is pretty hard to get because of the way you go about getting the ACA qualification (through an accounting firm with a training contact and registered with the ACA) - It's a lot easier to do ACCA.

Got no letters, and not got a lot in the way of qualifications either. My school reports are littered with "loses concentration easily", "constantly looking out of the window", "prefers to sit and doodle", "doesn't pay attention." I left school with little confidence, and not much else.

Thereafter, give me a Service manual and a piece of equipment and I'd strip it down, and when rebuilt it would be better than new.

Even today, 30-odd years later, I get by on on lots of commonsense and an ability to motivate and support a good Team - I bask in their success.

I currently have BA (hons) after my name... however I have never use it!

Once I complete my professional exams I can have GRAD.ICSA after my name.... within a couple of years I have submit to become an Associate (ACIS) and following more years practice I can then apply to be a fellow (FCIS) however I need 8 years of work experience at a senior level for that!
