I gather 4 times round the block without falling off has been superseded.
I am thinking of getting the daughter a bike to try and cheer her up and do something with her old man instead of just nagging me. So what is needed to get her a licence as cheaply as possible.

Having never been in control on the roads before, it cost me £500, including bike rental, insurance, gear, and tests. This is from scratch, to owning a license. Granted, we got discount on an already cheap deal.
CBT first, look around and that can be yours for £100 everthing included. From here, she can A) Get insured on a 125 with L-plates until she if comfortable enough to pass the test B) Do further training for a few days (What I did. Quicker, and much cheaper!) |

She is 25 and held a car licence for 8 years.
OK I know she is limited to 125 as a learner, but I hate the thought of buying a 125 to sell as soon as she has passed her test. Remember it is for sunny days. not commuting etc. Ideally I would giver her my 600 when the new baby finally appears in the garage.

Get her through direct access, she'll know if she's not interested on the CBT
After that you need to take the motorcycle theory test, and can ride around on a 125cc bike with L plates, so long as she doesn't carry a pillion or use the motorway The DAS practical riding is split into two parts, one off the road where you show your ability to out maneuver some road cones, and one on the road where you show your ability to adhere to speed limits After that she gets to ride anything she wants, much better than being restricted to powers and plates
