Default Difficulty tightening rear axle nut

Hi All

First post after buying a K8 SV650 Sport in December last year, but have been busy reading the great advice on the site.

Have just adjusted my chain for the first time and I am finding it a right pain to tighten the axle nut to the right torque without the spindle just turning. This is despite trying to hold a spanner on the spindle side. It is sending me crazy and the 22mm spindle nut is so hard to grip.

Has anyone had the same problem and worked out a neat solution without getting someone else to help - impossible to get any of my family in the garage in this weather!

Any tips appreciated.

Cheers

Ian

Socket and bar/extension bar -let it turn till on the ground, hold it with your foot from the back of the bike
Socket and power bar on the other side[Better if you have a torque wrench] and tighten up as required
Surely you can do it up till it is starting to tighten without any problem

I think my torque wrench might be knackered as the bar/socket on off-side can't keep gripped to the spindle nut whilst I turn my torque wrench on the axle nut (set to 65nm of course).

The shallow head on the spindle is a pain to grip. A good quality 6 sided 22mm socket in half inch drive will help here, & practise of course.
The torque on a pointy spindle should be 100nm, 65nm was for the curvy model.

Cheers.
