Default Recommend me a camera

For perving.

a few days ago i had some tools knicked from work and this morning i came in and found that someone has unsuccessfully attempted to drill the locks out on my tool cabnet, we all know who it is but need the evidence

so i need a cheap, small, colour or black and white camera that i can hide and leave running over night

Thank you please

Voice or noise activated recording of video. I have one, it's very good quality. Cheap too!

How cheap is cheap? Most are a bit pricey and cheap (really cheap) ones may not work in low lght so you may not get a positive ID on your thief. How does around £60 sound?

@Bluepete's suggestion
Scratch that point, didn't read the noise activation part. Nice find Bluepete. What if he's really really quiet?

Prop something in or on the locker that'll fall and make a noise when tampered with. Glass bottle, tin can with a few bolts in it?

What sort of resolution do you need? Are you looking for evidence to fire someone, or something that would stand up in court??

Would a laptop with a webcam be sufficient? Stuff the laptop above the ceiling and hide the webcam on top of a cabinet. I don't have the details, but last time I looked some of the commercial motion detection packages allow you to run a single camera for free. With a network connection you can even check the camera remotely so there's no need to go into the room.

If you're looking for something that'll stand up in court you probably need to have a chat to your local police. Blurry web-cam images really won't hack it.

Regards,

Keith.
