Default Riding without license plate?

So after my little spill a few months back that saw a lot of my bikes tail in pieces, ive bought myself a new tail kit plus a new set of plates. Im tempted to head down to my mates today and use the drill he has to allow the fixation of my plate to the tail kit!

If I get pulled over and have the plate in my rucksack will it be ok? Or will I face points or a fine regardless? Just wondering as it will make or break wether my bike will b ready for the commute tomorrow! (just itching to get back on!)

Could you tape it or strap it onto the rear seat ? At least if you got stopped it would show you made an effort to display it and explain you're on your way to fix it on properly, Or even tape it to the back of your rucksack ?

Better than in rucksack I'm thinking anyway...

If you are stopped it's a non-endorseable conditional offer of fixed penalty. I am sure it is one that is now £60 but I sure one of the traffic guys here will advise. No points though.

Bungee suitable size bag to rear seat, attach plate to bag so it can be seen?

Edit: Doh too slow...

Just ride fast enough so they can't catch you

Thanks for the suggestions. Defo not worth risking it for £60 so I'll figure out how to make it a strap-on

Why not just make a temp one from card and use that to get to your mates. If stopped, explain the circumstances.
