Default 2002 ZX636 shock in a Curvy?

hi all.

replaced my leaking rear shock (99 curvy) with a replacement stock shock of flebay.

it was a good shock but after a month or so its started leaking again.

so will a 2002 zx6 / 636 shock be a better option?

im a bit portly 13 - 14 stone and have to do a 60 mile round trip on bendy bumpy fen roads to and from work 3 times plus a week.

will it fit ? will it be better?

thanks

Not done it myself. Find out spring rate, length and type of ends.

03-04 or 05-06 one works.

Spring rate is not bad, length is important though. Find that out before you splash any cash.

05-06 one works OK at 335mm (stock is 337) ... anything up to about 355mm is good, 360mm is a bit much though.

Oh, did not see b1h comment first time... that is ok. 03-04 year not 02... 02 was different bike entirely

I've had both a ZX6 & ZX10 shocks on & they make a heck of a difference. If you are portly at 13 stone then I'm a big fat barsteward at 15.5 stone & the difference over stock is amazing. The only problem is it then makes the front end feel a little weak.

they burn a hole in your pocket (cic £400/550/650 + vat ish for 0/1/2 way shocks

they are good though

good shock = good investment if you plan to keep your bike for some time
keep the old one so if the bike is ****ted you take the better one off

also for peeps that get one for a curvey then progress to another bike, in most cases they can be revalved and modded to fit most bikes and would be cheeper than buying a new one
