Flat battery.

i hate the alarm on my sv...

a few days since i started her and now she is flat


lots of clicking, display flashes, but nothing else... i can only assume the battery is flat

so my question, how easy is it to remove the alarm, it's a datatool system 3 or summat like that?

she lives outside so there's no chance of an optimate

now where is my battery charger....

I'd check you don't have an earth leakage first, as a few days shouldn't drain the battery.

However it's not hard to remove, but takes time , you'll need to trace out each wire and if it was professionally installed perhaps have to graffed in a couple of lengths of wire, so give yourself a few hours or so and be prepared to strip the bodywork off.

I'd be checking my battery too. You could always use a solar powered trickle charger if its out side. There only a tenner from tesco's

I've had two bikes with datatool system 3 alarms fitted and I hate them. This time I've gone for an alarmed disc lock instead.

i have a cunning plan

i don't have a trickle charger or anything like that so i need to get jumper cables and then i can use the old battery from the curvy to jump the naked one

i'm carless as from tomorrow afternoon

i've got a massive 13w solar charger, but it's quite expensive and large, if i left it outside it'd go walkies for sure
plus, i live in manchester, we haven't seen the sun much lately

i had a datatool 3 fitted to mine but took it. its simple enough to remove took me about 20 mins. If you still want to remove it p.m me and i'll give you details of how i did it. It was a bit easier for me being an aircraft electrian though.

TBH if you are getting clicking, I'd defo have a good look into the battery first.
My faithful Meta alarm went into permanent sleep last month, and you got no clicking whatsoever. The lights all came on, but nobody was at home!!
My first thoughts were the reg rec, as a few months before we'd had the same problem, but the alarm sprang into life, but we had symptoms such as dipping lights when revving etc.
SO, Tried a new battery, as I needed one anyway, but it was the alarm in the end. YC came and removed it for me, and re did all the wires nice and neat.

I have the same problem with mine at home same situation its just a pain in the shute.
Have you tried leaving it in service mode meaning does the alarm keep going off unawares or is it just running the battery flat without doing anything?
What about disconnecting the battery at night?

In my alarm there is a small fuse hiding in a little plastic cage under the rear plastics. YC told me to check that too before disconnecting.
7.5 one IIRC kinda brown orange in colour

If it is draining battery (if otherwise healthy) then it won't be that fuse.

Just take it off. Replace it with an alarmed disc lock which won't leave you stranded if it F's up.
