Reading the Vtwin Vs IL4 debate, it made me think.
What makes you buy a particular bike? Is it the price? The looks? How well its doing in the race season? What designer kit? The colour? The way it rides, the way it sounds?? So many options... I.E If you had a 2008 GSXR 1000cc, and Suzuki brought out a new model with a few kg less, a few bhp more, and some fancy branded brakes, would it tempt you to upgrade? Or would you think "really not worth buying a whole new bike for that little bit extra?" Just someone asked me why I wanted my bike as its quite old now and falling behined many bikes. They simply could not understand that whilst its slower than many bikes, handlings not superb, fuel economy is awful, but what it does do is it makes me excited every time I open the garage and see the shape, the paintwork, the little details. But mainly, when im riding and I open the throttle, the induction note is literally spank worthy. Nothing i've ridden comes close. So for ME its the way the bike makes me feel. Its not got fancy suspension, nor radial brakes, but everything thats there makes me giggle like a schoolgirl. I like being a bit different from everyone else, and honestly, I like the attention when 50+ jap superbikes are sitting in a carpark, and I turn up on my mentally sounding, totally unique looking bike. It draws a crowed and I enjoy chatting about it. So what does it for you? Has it got to have those fancy radial brakes and 180bhp and winning the WSB, or do you prefer something a little different to the crowd? |

cheep to buy, decent power, lots of mods available, good looking or the ability to make it look good (mods), ability to turn heads, connect with the bike
and to go against all but a few of those, i would love a Tuono ![]() with that sead about the Tuono i suppose the two main criterias are good power, and to connect with the bike |

Just something that stirs something in me.
When I chopped in the SV I fancied a change and tested the SS600's. The Suzuki was the "best" bike in terms of liveability, but the Kwak just spoke to me - so I bought it. |

Performance, handling, speed, power (insurance allowing) and then looks obviously.
I always wanted a 600rr since I first set my eyes on one, which was a good 3 or 4 years before I even thought about passing my test. I loved the low front, high rear and underseat exhaust look. It just so happened it also fills the other criterias and got amazing writes ups too.

I got on a GSXR1000. WOW it scared the hell out of my first time I opened it up. It was fast, reliable, fuel efficient, handled well, by far a better bike than my own.
Would I swap though? Even for a brand spanking new one? Not a chance in hell. My bike excites me as soon as i turn it on. I get on something else and it does nothing. Its just a fast bike between my legs. A machine thats gone past every tick box in production. No soul, no life, no passion, just a machine, a tool. Tonyk, who? |
