Default K&N filter; is it worth it?

as above

is it worth putting a k&N air filter and oil filter on a 99 sv?

I have a blue flame end can and its been jetted to that.

FWIW I've read BMC are better for the SV. Can't add more than that but might be worth looking into.

Nothing noticeable to either i'd guess, might sound nicer though.

I have a K&N air filter on my K3. Didn't notice any difference in mpg (I track each tank of gas) over the last 6 months, seems to pick up through the revs a little cleaner though, and has a bit more of an induction"roar" to it.

Not sure what a basic replacement costs but the K&N is easy to clean out and is supposed to last a lot longer so a good investment i think.

Tool the snorkel out at the time but ended up putting it back in as it seemed to splutter a bit low down (though it sounded frickin mint on full throttle at 6k rpm +) and also the mpg appeared to drop a bit.

That's supposed to be the point. It's washable and reusable, is its main advantage, and it doesn't mess up your fueling.

yup but most people seem to buy them for performance gains, witch obviously you can get but very small on the sv

BNC's are better, it will need to be Jetted. Performance gains will be minimal.
