Trying to trace why the front wasn't firing I thought I'd switch the spark plugs around to see if that was the problem. Upon doing so the one from the non-firing cylinder had sheared off upon tightening. The threaded part has remained threaded into the head but the remains have came out. I was going to try and use an easy out thing I have (left hand threaded drill bit) is this good/bad? scared I'm gonna end up wrecking the thread or dropping something into the barrel.
This is turning into a bloody saga. ![]() sookie. |

is there enough showing to remove it? If you can be sure that nothing could have fallen into the cylinder then you may be able to free up whats left. Be extremely careful with an easy out on this but you might be lucky.
Did it sieze or was it just overtightened? |

There was a similar post to this not so long ago. You need to soak the remains insitu with some plus gas or diesl. Block the drain hole so the stuff gets into the threads of the plug. Leave it for a good while
Search through the threads and you'll find the other post

this cant be seized at the threads as it had only just been fitted, plus gas wont help unless the threads are seized. Did you just tighten it up too much?
A spark plug only needs nipping up at something like 10 Nm or so. |

Its ok I got it out with the easy out thing, it came out quite easy, thankfully. I think I may have been overtightening it when it snapped but I was hoping it was cracked and thats why it wasn't firing but alas no, its still not firing correctly. Thanks for the replys tho.

Phew!...For a moment there, I thought you'd broken a spark plug in your head!

The way I've been feeling recently I wouldn't be too surprised at an idle banter thread asking how to remove various tools from body parts or news reports of a garage fire round the edinburgh way.
