Default attempted to steal me bike!

well woke up this morn to find my bike not parked on the drive anymore. a couple of kids down the road had found it on its side. the rear chain was still on as was the from disc lock and steering lock.
dont know how the hell anyone must have moved it, must have been a lot as they've had to literally drag it down the street as the wheels wouldn't turn. or carry it which is not easy.

really annoyed with myself that i never heard them, if i did id be chasing them down the road with my sharpening steel!

minor damage... i think.

nice scratch on the left of the tank. they've taken my LH mirror off. and now the HUD is showing a warning light with "FI" flashing in the temp display. this means im going to have to take it to a dealer and get it sorted.
im hoping that its just because its been on its side most of the morning and isn't anything serious as the bike had seemed to be places gently down on the RH side (yes on the exhaust) but hadn't scraped or scuffed the band spankin blue flame exhaust i put on there recently.

can anyone pm me if the have a spare LH mirror i could buy for cheap. (or any suggestions on upgrading the mirrors as im going to have to fork out for one anyway and the stock ones aren't exactly great.

also ill need some black touch up paint if anyone has any spare or know what colour and where to get it.

just wanted to put this one here, 1... to vent
and 2... to remind/ warn guys and gals that even tho you may think your bike is safe and secure (like i did) its prob not. my next purchase is a alarm disc lock. that would have been enough to wake me i think. remember its summer now. thieves and scum alike can prowl the war nights for longer now and they probably have their eye on your shiny bike.

take care.

Just to help mate.... Hein Gericke has a lovely Alarmed disc Lock for £39.99 and if you get one of those £10 vouchers it makes it only £29.99

Otherwise ABUS do the same - a 7000 R2 or R3 for £79.99.

If you have a HG near you then I can send you the £10 or you can get the locks from me and I will post to your home address......... HTH

Maybe it's time to install a ground anchor.

The FI might just be the tip sensor, does it start? If not then id guess that... Just a quick one that might save you time and money!

I too vote for a decent ground anchor. Keep your eye on Aldi as early this year they had 8 quid alarmed padlocks. As loud as any you will find and has proved waterproof. It is not my main disc or padlock but serves as a additional something to put on the bike just for the scream it makes when moved.

might be worth giving it a good look over, you dont want to risk them having done something/ a little snip on a breakline or something just to spite you.

Glad you've got it back so easily, and +1 on the ground anchor chains do f'all unless you've chained it too something.
