Right I know this is probably common sense but were is the best place to lift the back end ive been using the grab rail on the back, just not to sure if I could cause damage or not, like i said i know its a silly question its just im not sure i keep thinking I will bend something..

Depends why you're lifting....
For momentary lifts- ie. spinning the rear tyre to do chain lubing etc. I leave it on sidestand and grab/lift at the base of the subframe with my right hand, left hand on righthand bargrip on full right lock. Works with most bikes, easy on a light SV. If you want the back wheel clear for a longer time for chain adjusting etc. use a paddock/abba stand. Much safer. Lifting with the grabrail isn't the easiest way, so why struggle. ![]() Last edited by haggis; 16-04-10 at 10:07 AM. |

its when im turning the bike round in a very very tight spot so its keeping the front tyre in the same spot and piveting the bike round (if that make any sense)

The grab rail is only supposed to take 5kg so probably not best, do you have the luggage handles underneith? if so they are a beeter bet as I think they are welded to the frame.

Ahhh, i c!
Do you know the sidestand pivot trick? Similar to what I said above.... harder to explain than actually do it! Keep the tip of your right foot on the tip of the sidestand. Full lock right with the bars. Left hand on right grip, right hand where the subframe meets the frame. Lift rear, then pull at the bar too, so the only bit on the ground is the sidestand. Use your left leg for balance and guide the whole bike around - i find it easier to go anticlockwise. You're not lifting it up much, just an inch or so clearance. There's probably utube footage of someone doing it. |

I just pick it up from the back wheel, the sv is so light, even when dropped it easy to right. Saying that the sidestand trick i find much harder than my 125, but once you master it, its he easiest.
