Just had the passenger side snap, but a quick google and it seems like a recall issue (on the US models anyway).
Anyone had this resolved? Got a lot of miles to complete this week ![]() |

Doubt you would get it done under a recall with a car of that age, it is quite common & iv'e had it happen on a Volvo & a Vauxhall, apparently it's because of contaminants in the steel when the spring is made.

About an hour to do if everything goes to plan, dead easy, whip the strut off, take off old spring, fight the compressors to fit new spring and shove strut back on.

I had to do my lads the other month, was easy to get the struts off(about 10 mins per side) but one spring was a pig to compress. I use two sets of compressors, first set compressing spring enough to get the cap on, then a second set pulling against the cap in order to fasten the retaining nut. I was seriously thinking of buying an industrial compressor until common sense told me that I would probably not do another for at least 10 years

Doh. I hate paying someone to do a job I know I could do. But no garage/driveway/tools means otherwise. Happens the week my MOT comes up too
![]() Never heard of it on a normal -mileage (75k) road car before though. |

My lads Kangoo snapped one at about 60,000, he hadn't a clue until he failed his mot. but it only broke off about 1/2 a coil and fortunately landed back within the suspension caps.
