Angry Think twice before shouting Oiii

So I'm heading out to a peaceful lunch with my parents, with wife and kids in the car.

I live in a quiet seaside town, with i high percentage of retired folk.

So leaving my road, I see a blue car parked up, driver just exiting his door, who I then see arms and fists flying. I ask my wife to call the old bill, as it is a bit out of order at 11.40am.

I stop the car and get out and find a old guy (65+) wrestling with 2 cyclists who were husband and wife (40+). The car driver was fighting the female!

Well the fight stopped after the car driver probrably realised he was fighting a woman.

I didn't see what caused this altercation, although the male cyclist said his wife had only shouted Oii at the car after it had cut them up!!

Its not a busy road and its wide enough to easily pass any slow moving cyclist.

Now as a cyclist I've had a car driver shout at me because I strayed out of the cycle lane on part of this road (to overtake a car parked in the lane!!!)

But as a driver, motorcyclist & cyclist I had to think WTF, its all gone wrong when something like this happens over an Oii

I was shocked, especially as it happened in front of the kids

Mad, Mad, Mad the whole worlds gone mad

madness

can I ask a question though ... when you're changing road position on your push bike do you do an observation to check the space you are moving into is clear or do you expect traffic behind to dive into oncoming traffic or slam on the anchors for you?
...maybe its just sheffield cyclists :P

I went out on a cycle for the first time in years on actual roads and well scared myself! Can't believe how we did it as kids with such impunity. Going 20mph without a helmet on after being used to the bike feels really exposed and first time I had to go around parked cars "crap! no mirrors!!" or indis or brake lights. I'm thinking of doing cycle to work scheme and if I do, I want mirrors and indicators lol, even if I look like Forest Gump.

I don't know how my rambling relates to the OP but I think it does sort of.

Yep obs, shoulder check etc just as I would do if I was on my GSXR.

Yep, always check behind like Fizz said

Old Bill did turn out, blue lights and all, but I've still not heard anything about wanting to take a statement from me

Go and read the Highway Code!
It clearly says that you should allow plenty of room for cyclists who may 'weave about a bit' (technical term in the HC)
