Default Sell it or run it into the ground?

Good morning
I have a copper K3 SV650S which I have had for 3 years, I have done just over 20,000 miles in that time. To be honest it is a bit of a mess. Getting quite tatty now, I have dropped it twice, replaced the tank but the front fairing is now red. Most panels have cosmetic damage to them. On the plus side mechanically it is very sound and still starts first time every time and rides very nicely. I have now got my eye on a GSXR750 and dont know what to do with the SV. It has 51,000 miles on the clock, has been serviced by a dealer up to 30,000 then by myself every 4000 miles since. Would make a cracking 1st bike or someone who doesn't care how tatty it is or of course a mini twin project. I could probably do at least another trouble free 20,000 miles on it. My question is if I do decide to get rid what price do I pitch it at???

51,000 miles
12 months mot
10 months tax
R&G Crash Bungs
R&G Bobbins
R&G Heated Grips
Goodrich Braidied Hoses F&R
Tail Tidy
Hagon Front Springs

Cheers Chris

tbh id just buy some fairings that are the right colour or get it resprayed. It will cost alot less than buying a gsxr! keep it going!

Either that or break it down for spares. As the engine has been looked after, it would be a shame to do this, as Sv engines last well if they've been looked after like yours

I'd keep it for the winter days when you don't want to get the shiny gixxer covered in salty cr*p. Then in the spring when the market for bikes picks up you could tart it up and sell it.

Cheers for the replies guys.
I would like to keep it to do the work run on but really fancy a change.
Think I will see the winter through on it as suggested then re evaluate in the spring.
Have thought about breaking it but it does seem a shame to wreck a mecanically sound bike.

Trouble with breaking it is people want the bits that get damaged in minor spills.Yours sounds like those bits are already damaged so no one will want much of your bike.Id keep it as a cheap commuter which is what you seem to need.

I've been thinking about this- my fairings are very tatty now (front left fairing is held together with Polyfilla expanding foam!!)
and the rear right fairing has snapped under the seat, near the bolt-hole.

As Suzuki have just put the cost of curvy fairings up by about 100% (HOW do they justify that?!), it's really making me think about whether I'll replace them or not.

If you love riding the bike enough to be keeping it a while longer, it may be worth making it all good again. But it does really depend on how much you love the bike...
