I just recently figured out how to do this, makes a really interesting picture. Always thought it was some fancy editing tool.

Grab hold of photoshop.
Open the image.
Once opened press crtl J
Then ctrl U
Then slide the saturation slider to -100
Ok it
Select the Delete tool
Delete the areas you want colour to show
andddd your done

Simples

Download this editing software from here (i'm too cheap to buy Photoshop )

And then I followed the instructions from here the 1st time

And then you should be able to do things like this

Haha yeah I did wonder what I was downloading to begin with

I thought it was going to be budget but its got plenty of features a complete noob like me has no idea what to do with!

If I was in your line of work though it'd be Photoshop all the way
