Default So, whats good these days?

Just dug the winter textiles out for a ride now the weather has turned, and it looks like my trousers are done for - they're a bit old and have been crashed in, and now the seams at the crotch have given up. At this point, I'd normally trawl the stores and look for the RiDE product tests, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment - unless I'm missing something, textiles haven't been tested since I bought the Weise ones back in 2008 (which were a best buy at the time).

So to put the question simply - which trousers are people looking at as we head to the winter?
My only criteria is that they have to be waterproof and available in black, and I'm willing to spend good money to get a good product. I do do a fair few miles (despite all the troubles, the triple ticked over 14k on the way home today), so it'll probably take 5 years abuse in 2

Hein Gericke goretex stuff
If it leaks; take it back and swap 'em.
My Tricky 2 suit has been tested through last winter and has been fine.
Includes 4 days of all day riding in Scotland in non stop rain last September.

I'd also be tempted by hein gericke goretex stuff , unless there are any cheaper brands doing goretex?
****ing expensive but goretex stuff is good, and the HG stuff does look well made.
Infact I was looking on ebay at factory seconds/returns stuff when I almost bought some, save £100 just cause they didn't fit someone or there a mark on them or something.

That's a lot of money but I hear it's worth it.
I had to buy the missus some HG gear as well so had to 'down grade' to the Tricky. She got a Journey suit (Girly version) and that's been good as well.
Really pleased with it all.

I have the Master V, with about 30,000 miles on it; waterproof and warm. I know someone who tests prototype kit for Gore (45,000 miles around the highlands every year) and he still believes the Master V to be the best available at the price.

whilst I've no doubt the Master V stuff is good, so it should be (currently £750 for the jacket and £600 for the trousers), the less fancy and more affordable Boost trousers I've found to be both waterproof and warm over the last two years ( approx 51,000 miles) and at £80 good value.

Cheers Mark.
