I was told this summer that anything over 30K kills the value of an sv. I enquired about trading my `01 curvy in against an `03 sv thou and was offered £1200 with mine having 28k at the time.
The shop owner said get rid before it reaches 30K to keep any decent value. This was in the glasses guide, around july time. |

Mileage is a killer on any bike with regard to resale value. I think you aren't supposed to ride them, but if that is the case what is the point in having one. I for one don't get enough miles out of my bike at 6000 per year but at least all my miles are for pleasure--hey ho

I'd say that's fairish depending on what you're paying for it's replacement.

Just to give you an idea, went for a nosey in here after i'd finished with meetings this afternoon and saw this
P!ss take and this one as an example of how low mileage can alter the price Even bigger p!ss take I did do a double take when I saw the prices ![]()

I was offered £2,000 for my SK4 which had 20,000 miles on it - but that was part-ex against a Sprint ST, so I wonder if maybe it was the trade in that got me a reasonable px

As Husky's mate is looking for a bike you might be better to sell it to him. With no trade in, negotiate a better price for your purchase, could be beneficial by a few quid

I dunno, but riding your bike over, picking up new bike, end of story is so much easier than maybe selling it, only to find the buyer actually doesn't want it (Not a reference to Husky's mate but Ebay wannabe bidders), and then maybe ringing you up asking this and that.
Top box and rack off might generate a few quid as long as the part-exer doesn't mind. |

I was offered 2k for my mint SK5 with 8,000 on it last Feb.
Sold it through this forum for a bit more. Most dealers will take the mick on part ex values, expecially ones that wont fly off out of the showroom. If it's a big dealer that only stocks nearly new bikes they will sell it on to another trader and wont make any profit out of it so are only offering you PX as as way to secure the deal on the new bike. IMO opinion you will be better off selling privately but at this time of year it wont be easy.
