Default Registration location ???

A few weeks ago my sis found out my dad had a motorbike in his younger days, a BSA bantam.
Anyway, she found out the reg number of it, now because my dad died when I was 7 years old, I thought I might be able to get hold of the original reg for myself as a bit of a connection to him now I'm a biker myself.

Now, question is, how can I trace the number if still in circulation ?
My bro in law has asked dvla and apparently it's not on a motorbike, not sure about a car or something else .

Any help appreciated.

Phil

You can use askmid.com to check if it is currently on an insured vehicle, and the dvla website can furnish details of current MOT status. Have you tried the various personalised plate websites to see if they are offering it for sale. Nothing definitive though.

The DVLA are ****** and will sell you the registered keeper's address for a plate if you write to them as a ltd company and pay a small fee (couple of quid I believe).

You dont have to be a Ltd company, but you do have to have a legit reason for the reqest. i had to do this when the bloke who bought my car decided to strat driving into the congestion charge zone without paying, before he changed his address.

The reg isnt registered on the insurance database, ive searched a lot of the big reg brokers, no joy so far.
Question, if the bike was scrapped, would that reg be able to be re-issued, or does that die with the bike?

Would your local police or maybe .org police be able to do a check for you or maybe find out who the last owner was and go from there?
