Dear God, my head

I had some clients a bit north of here in a remote part of Cheshire, the sort of place you'd never find unless you knew where you were going, down a hill, through a ford, through a private wood and down a lane ... very old fashioned in a way, but wiley. They were facing some particularly nasty litigation, and I was pleased to help. I won Did far more than I was paid for, and they appreciated it. Anyway I went to see them today. I can't say who or where they are for reasons which will become obvious.

Anyway, sat there in front of this ancient Aga in their kitchen with a fantastic view, enjoying a brew and a heart attack buttered toasted teacake (none of this margarine rubbish in rural Cheshire), I said I really ought to get going cos I wanted to get some homebrew started. Nervous looks... and out came the peach wine. It was very very tasty. Sweet but not cloyingly so. Very fruity, bit of a pectin haze, but highly quaffable and highly alcoholic. Thinking 'oh feck I'm sposed to be driving home'... talking bollox and a few of these later, out came the apple brandy. No label. Colourless. Almost odourless. Would catch fire. This was deffo not shop bought I'd guess at 50+ degree proof... they decided not to show me the still, maybe next time... but when in Rome...

I had to text wifey instructions on how to get there. How she understood them I'll never know We had friends coming this evening so I really did have to leave. Sobered up during the evening, but oh my head
