Well after 2 half hearted attempts in the past 5 years, they have finally done what might be a reasonable job where I live. Yippee finally the first hurdle is over.
I live on a small cul de sac that is accessed directly off the A6, unfortunately to the right as I leave the estate there is a slight right hand bend. this means that if traffic is parked on the A6, nobody can see to exit. there has been 1 death and about 20 minor accidents, the result was to yellow line the exit. but this did not stop the root cause, parked traffic on the A6. so attempt 2 was to extend the yellow line on the exit a further 20 yards into the estate. Waste of time. So todays 3rd attempt is to put 100 yard of yellow lines down the A6. Great. No parking now apart from there is nobody to enforce it. the nearest traffic wardens are about 4 miles away and those who do choose not to park on the yellow lines simply park on the pavement so the exercise has achieved nothing. Why do we have to go through hoops and revisit the problem, the original request was for bollards to be placed to stop cars parking on the pavement and enforced double yellows. The argument against is that house holders wouldn't have anywhere to park. Am I being in denial to say if you have no off street parking, you have no god given right to park in front of your house etc. If you want to park outside your front door, buy a house where it is safe and legal to do so. So 5 years for the proper yellows, next complaints may bring out the peril looking for easy bucks, but I reckon a further 5 years to get what was asked for in the first place, and probably another child killed. This has been a pet hate of mine as one of the cars damaged by people not being able to see properly was mine.

I feel your pain, same set up on exit to my cul-de-sac onto to a main road with people parking either side of the exit (occasionally across it as its quite an obscure entrance).
Is there no where else for local residents to park then other than here, what about the other side of the road or are there houses there too? |

However if it's causing problems and is dangerous then surely they should just bite the bullet and realise that they need to park else where. |

What you are saying is right, they don't HAVE to park in front of their own house.
But then again, who are you as a person to deny the right of x amount of people being unable to do it. What if they have lived there for years, and some nosey neighbour sticks their ore in and ends up denying them to right to park there anymore. How would you feel if you had lived there for say 10-20 years, then some random person comes along and gets things put in place which denys them the right anymore. Who are you to do this? People die, they should use their eyes better. I have no sympathy for pedestrians. If they want to walk out onto the road, its their responsibility to look where they are going, despite what our laws say. tbh, I wouldn't be so nosey, i'd just deal with the sitation, be careful when pulling out, and keep my problems and niggles to myself. |

There's a junction here where you can't see onto a "dangerous" main road because there's a pub in the way, you going to get that knocked down too?
Of course I'd be miffed if someone pulled out on me there, but it would still be their fault for not creeping out in a safe manner.
