Default Chainsaws

I think my poor little mac335 has shuffled off this mortal coil. The piston has picked up and seized, it's freed off now but has no compression and I expect it has scored the barrel too

It lasted alright, I got it for £40 from Clitheroe auctions and it's had probably 1-200 hours use, done literally tons of logs with it. Never paid for a single one either so well worth it!

So, do I try and fix the McCulloch or what? Piston kit is probably £30, but it may need a barrel too (£50), I could rebore it but I haven't seen any oversize pistons for it anywhere.

Or do I look at one of the cheapies on eBay. They're about £85 for a 50cc/20" bar saw, which seems too cheap, but might be worth a go. Has anyone tried one? Are they as nasty as the price suggests? Can you get parts when you need them?

Or a secondhand husky or stihl, this is my preferred one at the moment but at roughly double the price for a secondhand unit, is it worth it...

Fix the Mac. You're in a relationship with it after that much work!

I had a Stihl. She was a beauty but had to go to pay for the weekend where I fell off the Bucket

Chris - have a Stihl AV015which has had little use ( still on first chain ) you're welcome to it. Doesn't start easy but a little fettling followed by regular use will sort that.

Snap his hand off Chris! That-there beast is a ferrarrrrri!

Edit, Don't really snap his hand off, he needs it for knocking his kill switch off in quiet country villages!

You on commission, Carl?
Überfahrt doesn't work with the Mivv can, so I need a lot more practice.
