SV luggage?

hiya again

Looking at going away for a bit in my SV650s (pointy with a standard level exhaust if it matters), and will be needing some luggage.
I was thinking of panniers and a tank bag?
What do you people use? How well does it fit? Waterproof? Quality? Pics?

Oxford humback panniers.

I always use dry bags to put my stuff in then put them into panniers so I can't really comment on waterproofing.

They have plenty of space and are easy to put on take off. They're also pretty stable when riding.

Same idea as the Bags Connection bag, but cheaper at £70.

50l, 3 compartments (2 small, one big) , small pockets hold a 2 man tent and sleeping bag and bed, big one will be for clothes. Secured with straps under the tail. Not waterproof but supplied with waterproof bags.

I tried a tailpack, panniers on the SV, a rack and tailpack on the Falco and I think this will be my best setup.




Had a look on Kriega's site and looks like they've introduced a 70l tail pack (1xUS30 + 2xUS20), unfortunately it costs £200 (ok, it's a Kriega so it'll be worth it).

I have the same Oxford panniers as the Guru, they are really good for longer trips, lots of room, but I find them a bit of a fag to put on/take off for shorter journeys. Also I found that whilst the waterproof covers did the job and kept my gear dry, they fill up with water at the bottom, sag down and on the offside melted on the exhaust!

I also have a lidl tank bag and day to day its the best bit of bike storage I have ever bought, not a great deal of room, but enough for a few clothes, phone, wallet etc. no strain on the shoulders, easy to take on and off and useful map pocket to boot.

Oxford soft luggage - just be sure to use a "blanket"

+1 for Oxford. Would recomend putting everything in a plastic bag on the inside though.

Yes, use it especially for the panniers.

In that case it's panniers and/or renntec rack. Or look up danf's posts about his pointy (hard luggage).

I used the oxford panniers for an entire month around europe. They have plenty of room in them as they are expandable. I used the waterproof covers that come with them to go outside rather than inside and that kept everything dry. I used some of that non slip padded mat to protect the fairing and it seemed OK afterwards.
