Angry No fault crash - how long to get insurance payout?

I was shunted off my bike (whilst stationary) at a roundabout a couple of weeks ago and my bike was taken away for repair (I've been left with an ER6n hire bike). I've done all I can and am just waiting for the insurance companies and solicitors to sort everything out before the garage will even start fixing my bike. Does anyone have any experience how long until I get my bike back? I'm getting a little frustrated that we are experiencing the best weather and I'm even off work for a bit with no bike (well, not my bike anyway).

Unfortunately it's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. If the other side accept liability then everything could start to happen within a few days/week. Although even if the other driver accepts liability his/her solicitor may try to argue if they think there is any doubt that can be exploited. If there is a proprt dispute then it could las for years. My one and only experience of that lasted 18 months, was due to go to court and was settled the day before the trial - in my favour.
I hope for your sake that there isn't a liability dispute and that everything gets sorted out quickly.
Is there an injury claim or is it just for the bike repairs? If there is an injury claim it may be worth holding things up until you have recovered so that the full extent of the injury(ies) can be assessed and claimed for.

I had similar experience. Got knocked off at a junction whilst stationary. My accident happened in June last year and it took until the middle of August to get my bike back even though it was a cat d write off, and another month after that to get my settlement cheque for the bike. Think yourself lucky that you've got an Er6. I had to go through last summer with a 1.4 Peugeot 207!
The thing that p!sses me off is that the bike was hardly damaged. Had to wait for an assessor to come and look at the bike, then prepare the report, send it to me to approve, then send it to the third party who was given 31 days to reply then another 31 days to make payment. I then had to wait gor my legal people to forward on the cheque to me! I'd get used to the Er6 if I were you.

Luckily I wasn't injured and I have had to press the solicitors to get on with things as they wanted me to go a see a doc regardless. My bike has been assessed and there is about £1500 of damage. The garage has agreed that it won't be a write off after me urging him to try and keep the repairs to a minimum. I hope I'm not waiting too long. It just seems daft that the longer it takes the more it costs; you'd think everyone (the TP insurer at least) would want it sorted asap.

Same thing happened to me last August, I was more fortunate (depending on your perception, I don't think I was) to be given a GSF650 Blandit as a courtesy bike. I didn't particularly like it but I had to use it a lot as my insurers called at least once a week to ensure I was and confirm why I'd needed it, as even though the accident wasn't my fault I'm not allowed to cause undue expense to the third party.

The accident was on the Friday before the August Bank Holiday, damage wasn't too bad (bars, engine casing, mirrors, possibly the swingarm but not sure) but due to them having to wait for parts to arrive I didn't get it back until the day of the very last Taffia meet (07 October!).

I also had to attend several sessions of physio and then another doctor to evaluate my recovery, the compensation is mostly going to cover my increased insurance premiums as a result!

Just count your blessings you have something to ride on, and you'll appreciate your own bike all the more when you finally get it back.

3 years for a friend of mine after a stupid woman in a Ka pulled out in front of him and denied liability.

When I staggered in from the pub last night I found my cheque for the aforementioned accident waiting for me.

I'm gonna play the optimist and hope that it's at least all sorted before the summer is out! You never know, I might be lucky; fingers crossed.

Had a call today. Third party admitted all liability and insurance paying out. Bike getting repaired by Nick Gale Customs (Wembley) who has been a diamond geeza in getting it back to mint. Can't wait to get it back. Off to order my new seat cowl from Suzuki tomorrow (£98 - I must be mad but it'll look the business).
